The Albany Stakes is one of a number of races that has been added to Royal Ascot this century having been inaugurated in 2002. The Group 3, six furlong sprint is open to two year old fillies. Here we assess the trends than have emerged in this race’s short history and look ahead to the 2023 race to give our predictions and betting tips.

Despite the race having been run only since 2002, jockey Jamie Spencer has already chalked up four victories (in 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2013) while Richard Hughes has ridden three winners. Of the trainers, Mick Channon is leading the way with three winners, his most recent coming in 2011. Richard Hughes has combined with Richard Hannon senior (in 2004 and 2010) and his son Richard Hannon junior (2015) to great effect.

This year’s renewal sees Wesley Ward’s Create A Dream installed as the 9/2 favourite with Betfair after a narrow win on her maiden race on this course in April. We predict that the favourite will falter, however, and we think Charlie Appleby’s Romantic View looks a better bet at betting odds of 7/1 with the same bookie after a solid victory last time out at Goodwood.

Our main betting tip for the 2023 Albany Stakes, however, is to plump for the Mark Johnston-trained Sea Of Snow at very nice betting odds of 16/1 with Bet365 (who are paying out at a quarter of the odds on each way bets for a top three finish). With two wins from two, this filly has shown great potential and looks a fantastic price.
