The Queen Mary Stakes was first run way back in 1921 and almost 100 years later we’ve got betting tips, odds comparison and a whole lot more for this, the second race on the second day of the 2023 Royal Ascot festival.< p > This one is open to two year olds only and with well over £50, 000 to the winner there are some top class sorts assembled for this Group 2 sprint over just five furlongs. Both the leading jockey and trainer in this one come from before the Second World War and in recent times no trainer or jockey has really dominated.

If the odds makers are to be believed this year’s Queen Mary Stakes looks to be a two-horse race between favourite Lady Aurelia(priced at odds of 3/1 with Bet365) and Silvertoni(5/1 with a range of betting sites).

Silvertoni is an American filly trained by Wesley Ward and given Ward took this one last year with Acapulco and also in 2009, her chances have to be respected. Two wins from two in the States back that up but on balance we think the bookies have the odds about right here.

By that we mean that our preference is for the favourite, Lady Aurelia. Odds of 3/1 won’t land you the biggest win but would certainly help build your betting balance ahead of the bigger races later in the day and we think she has what it takes.

Much of what we said about Silvertoni applies here, with Lady Aurelia another US raider from the Ward yard. She also boasts a 100% record, albeit just from a single race, but she looks to have the greater pure speed and that should just about see her home.

If you want an each way option at longer odds for the Queen Mary then Boater at 25/1 with Betfair could challenge but in reality we predict a Ward one-two here.
